[135] J. J. Lobaugh's autobiography states that Andrew came into York County and married Eve Knisely, and settled on Latimore Creek, in what became by division of York, Adams County, in Latimore Twp., 13 miles south of Carlisle, 4 miles from York Springs, 22 miles northwest of York, 18 miles equidistant from Harrisburg and Gettysburg. Here he lived and died, raising a large family of whom my father, John was the youngest. When Andrew died, John received the home farm at a high valuation, $40 per acre, there being about 100 acres. John lived on the farm some 16 years. Adnrew was on the tax list for 1779, having 80 acres, and named among those who were refusing to take the oath of allegiance to the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania as required by law. He was on the list for 1780, assessed for 100 acres, but with no indication of whether he had taken the oath. In 1807, Andrew applied for and was granted a license to keep a tavern in Latimore Twp. The application states that he had kept the tavern "for a long time". The records show that he first applied for a license in 1801 and for the last time in 1809. The 1807 Latimore Twp. taxpayer roll lists his occupation as "hotel". In 1810, he obtained a survey for 237 acres 118 perches of land in Latimore Twp., Adams County. He is buried in "Lobach Cemetery", a private, not a church, graveyard, located about 3 miles from York Springs, on Bushey School Road. York County Taxables for 1783 shows Andrew Lobaugh of Huntington Twp., 100 acres, 2 houses, 1 outhouse, 1 horse, 1 horn'd cattle, 4 inhabitants. Genealogical Reports for the Historical Society of York County, Vol. xx, pp. 234-242-Evidences of the Lobach Families of York County before the year 1850 states that: Andrew Lobach of Menaghan Twp., private in the Sixth Class (Captain Benjamin Kobel) Company, First Battalion, York County Militia, according to a return dated April 11, 1778, he remained a member of this unit when (in 1779) it became the Second (Captain Charles Coulson) Company, Sixth Battalion; in this capacity he paid fines aggregating 112.15.0 pounds for nonattendance of exercise, incurred within the period 1778-1780. He removed to Huntington Twp., where he was enrolled as private in the same class, Fifth (Captain Francis Bonner) Company, Sixth Battalion, in which capacity he paid fines aggregating 5.12.6 pounds for non-performance of his tour of duty, incurred within the period May 1779-April 1783. Member of the Seventh Class of the Inhabitants of Huntington Twp., classified under an Act of Assembly passed in 1780 entitled "An Act of compleat the Quota of the Federal Army; each class was 'required to provide, in fifteen days from this date (January 30, 1781), one able-bodied Recruit for the Continental Army, to serve during the War, under penalty of a fine of 15.0.0 pounds specie; there are no data to show whether this class satisfied the requisition or not.'
