Les received his education in Transcona. He was employed with the CNR until his retirement from the Motive Power Department as a Work Study Analyst in 1968. During WWII he served with the RCNVR stationed in the Maritime Provinces.
Fraternally he was a member of the Knights of Pythias having served as a Grand Chancellor of Manitoba. At the time of his death he was Secretary of the St. Vital Lodge No. 40.
During his lifetime he wa a faithful member of Knox Presbyterian Church, now Transcona Memorial United Church. He served as a member of the Session for over 25 years, and was Chairman of the Building Committee to build the new Church on Yale Avenue West.
