Abraham Baur
Abraham Baur was born in Oberhofen, Canton Bern, Switzerland on March 8, 1820 to Johannes Baur and Elisabeth nee Ritschard. He married first Magdalena Frutiger in Hilterfingen, Canton Bern, Switzerland on May 5, 1848. She was born in Oberhofen, Canton Bern, Switzerland on March 16, 1823 to Jakob Frutiger and Magdalena nee Hertig. They had three children:
1. Johann Gottfried Baur was born in Erlenbach, Canton Bern, Switzerland on February 14, 1849.
2. Maria Magdalena Baur was born in Erlenbach, Switzerland on April 14, 1850. An infant was born and died May 1, 1851. Magdalena died in childbirth on May 1, 1851.
3. Abraham Baur married second Anna Streit in Thun, Canton Bern, Switzerland on March 1, 1856. She was born in Thurnen, Canton Bern, Switzerland on November 3, 1827 to Gottlieb Streit and Anna nee Frutiger. They had seven children:
1. Alfred Edward Baur was born in Thurnen, Canton Bern, Switzerland on April 6, 1857.
2. Emma Baur was born in Wattenwil, Canton Bern, Switzerland on December 10, 1858.
3. Emil Baur was born in Wattenwil, Canton Bern, Switzerland on January 19, 1860.
4. Robert Baur was born in Oberhofen, Canton Bern, Switzerland on July 30, 1861.
5. Arnold Christian Baur was born in Oberhofen, Canton Bern, Switzerland on December 16, 1862.
6. Adolph was born in Oberhofen, Switzerland on January 2, 1864.
7. Ernest Baur was born in Oberhofen, Switzerland on March 9, 1866.
They immigrated to America arriving in Toledo, Ohio on August 1, 1873. On July 11, 1875 Abraham Baur died in Toledo, Ohio at the age of 55. Adolph fell out of a second story window to his death on September 3, 1884 at the age of 20. Johann Gottfried married Susanna Hertig in Toledo, Ohio on October 18, 1849. They had five children one of whom died July 23, 1884 at the age of fourteen months. Susanna died June 8, 1886 in Toledo, Ohio at the age of 36.
Johann Gottfried died in Toledo, Ohio on April 17, 1887 at the age of 38. Emil commited suicide in Tyro, Kansas on October 20, 1912 at the age of 52. Their mother, Anna, died on December 27, 1912 of bronchio-pneumonia at the age of 85. Arnold became a minister. He died in Pittsburgh on November 3, 1921 at the age of 58. Maria Magdalena nee Baur Ruembeli died in Toledo, Ohio on August 12, 1928 at the age of 78. Robert became secretary/treasurer of the Schunk Hardware Company. He died in Toledo, Ohio on January 27, 1935 at the age of 73. Alfred became a master plumber. He died in Toledo, Ohio on February 9, 1942 at the age of 84. Ernest had a real estate company. He died in Toledo, Ohio on October 14, 1943 at the age of 77. Emma nee Baur Frutiger died in Toledo, Ohio on December 25, 1947 at the age of 89. Robert Baur was my grandfather.
