My Bower/Bauer family of lower New York and northern New Jersey is believed to have immigrated to the United States on the ship David Hoadley which sailed from Antwerp to New York City in 1854. These ancestors settled in Doodletown, Rockland County, New York and relocated from there to Stony Point, Haverstraw, and Northern, New Jersey.

 

Gustavus Bauer [a.k.a. George Bower], the son of John Bauer and Elizabeth _?_, was born 17 April 1850, died 10 March 1925. He married [1] _?_ and probably resided in Rouleau, Saskatchewan, Canada.

George married [2] on 18 May 1864 Martha Forbes Jones. Martha was born 22 July 1864; died 26 October 1918, the daughter of James Jones [born 25 November 1837; died 28 Dec 1898] and Martha Forbes [born in Scotland, she died in 1925 at age 84]. James and Martha were married 13 September 1860. James was the son of James Robert Jones, born 25 November 1837; died 28 December 1898. They are all buried in Mount Rest Cemetery, Stony Point, New York.
