Mary (Bower) Harter
of Indiana and Ohio
Mary Bower was born 6 Jan 1808 in Virginia, and died 21 May 1869 in Smith Township, Whitley County, Indiana. She married John Harter on 15 Dec 1827 in Licking County, Ohio. Mary and John were buried at Rousseau's Graveyard, Smith Township, Whitley County, Indiana.

Benjamin F. Harter born 15 Sept 1828 in Licking County, Ohio and died 23 Nov 1882 in Allen County, Indiana; married Elizabeth C. Johnson on 16 Sep 1858 in Eel River Township, Allen County, Indiana.
Benjamin came to Indiana with his parents in 1844 and was a farmer and laborer. His wife, Elizabeth, came to Indiana with her parents in 1855 and settled in Eel River Township.
Kaler's 1907 History of Whitley County, page 291, in discussing Rousseau's Graveyard says that "Benjamin Harter was the last person buried there. He may have been buried there when he died in 1882 and the body was moved to Eel River Cemetery before 1900 when she died."
Benjamin and Elizabeth are both buried at Eel River Cemetery, Allen County, Indiana.
