Elizabeth Ann Luty was born in Leeds, Yorkshire, UK. She came to
Australia with her family and lived in Collingwood, Melbourne. She
married George Bower at age of 18 at St. James Church, Melbourne in
rites of the Church of England. She was "with parents" at time of
marriage at Collingwood. Her parents were given as William Luty,
Tailor and Mary Gration. Witnesses on marriage certificate were
William Luty (who made his mark) and James John Howard (shown on
William Grayshaw Family Group Sheet of husband of Alice Grayshaw).
William Luty gave his consent to the marriage. At some stage,
Elizabeth returned to live in Cromwell Street, Collingwood where she
cared for her father before his death in 1876. According to her
father's death certificate and her daughter Louisa's birth
certificate, Elizabeth was born in 1849-1850, but according to her
marriage certificate, she was born 1847-1848, making her 18 at time of
marriage and 20 four years later. Baptism Certificate says baptised
26.1.1851, in Melbourne, Parish St. James, Melbourne, and says she was
born in England on 10th August 1849. Father William Luty given as
Laborer. According to the marriage certificate George was 21 in 1866
and 22 in 1870 according to Louisa's birth certificate. Elizabeth
lived in Campbell Street, Collingwood at the time of Louisa's birth.

Elizabeth Alice Bower, estimated born 1867, Minnie Bower estimated
